Practical answers about the current application, its operating requirements and the responsibilities that stay with you.
What is Automatic Day Trader?
Automatic Day Trader is configurable desktop trading software. You set the session envelope and authorize the account; research ranks eligible candidates within those limits, and independent position lifecycles manage entries, protection, configured automatic exits and broker-confirmed flat.
Does it guarantee profitable trades?
No. Trading can lose money, including more than the intended stop distance because of gaps, slippage, halts, liquidity or execution failures. Automation and deterministic rules do not make a strategy profitable. No simulated example on this site is a verified live track record.
Where does it run?
ADT Desktop is built for Mac and Windows. Mac builds target Apple silicon on macOS 13 or later; the Windows package targets Intel/AMD x64. A separate local background service manages the session when the interface is closed. Windows is currently a testing release, requiring target-machine and paper broker-lifecycle validation before operational use. The computer and broker gateway must remain available.
Does the operator retain control?
Yes. You configure the research provider, broker connection, schedule and strategy parameters. Live trading requires an explicit account-bound authorization. Pause entries, disarm, Flatten Position, Flatten All and Emergency Stop remain available as overrides. Normal configured exits are automatic; all exits remain subject to broker acceptance and market execution.
Which brokers are supported?
The implemented broker integration connects to Interactive Brokers through a locally running IB Gateway or Trader Workstation using the official TWS API. No Public.com integration is offered. Compatibility does not imply a partnership or endorsement.
Is this a signal service or a brokerage?
Neither. This is software you operate with your own broker account and research-provider configuration. It does not take custody of funds or operate a brokerage account for you.
What happens if the broker disconnects?
The service attempts to reconnect, then reconciles positions, orders and executions before resuming. Broker-accepted resting orders may remain active, but app-side stop updates and exit requests depend on connectivity. If the position uses app-monitored protection, the app must be running and connected. Verify actual protection in IBKR.
Can it operate in paper mode?
Yes. IBKR paper accounts have a separate paper-trading setting and a persistent PAPER badge. Live trading is disabled by default and cannot be enabled just by connecting a live account. The website demo uses an isolated fixture with no broker connection at all.
How is live mode distinguished?
The application identifies the broker account mode and displays a persistent mode badge. Live accounts use red styling. Enabling live trading requires a confirmation tied to the exact account. Changing the account requires matching authorization before entry.
Does it hold positions overnight?
The strategy targets an exit 15 minutes before the actual session close by default. A broker-side market-on-close backstop can also be configured. Flatness is not guaranteed: halts, rejected orders or outages can leave exposure. The engine reports unresolved positions and blocks new arming while it works through recovery.
What markets and strategies are supported?
The current workflow is long-only, whole-share trading in eligible US stocks and broad ETFs. Set one maximum entry for a simple session, or configure a larger bounded pool. Software scenarios cover up to 100 lifecycles; the default IBKR adapter permits at most 76 concurrent subscriptions for managed lifecycles, with lower account/data/window limits possible. This is not broker paper or live scale certification. It is not a futures, options, forex, cryptocurrency or high-frequency trading platform.
What technical setup is required?
An eligible Mac or Windows x64 computer, IB Gateway or TWS, an appropriately permissioned IBKR account, market-data access, a configured research provider and a reliable internet connection. Your provider and broker may charge separate fees. Local model endpoints can use keyless GDELT public discovery and optional SEC filings. Fresh usable sources and broker price/liquidity checks remain necessary; public feeds have no availability guarantee.
Does deterministic mean every run has the same result?
No. It means the execution code applies defined rules to its recorded state and inputs. Market data, broker fills, availability and timing differ. A deterministic engine cannot make market outcomes repeatable or risk-free.
What does ADT cost?
ADT is $250/month or $2,500/year, plus a one-time $1,000 guided setup fee. Both options include the same software, onboarding, updates and business-hours technical support. Broker, data and research-provider costs are separate. We confirm compatibility, availability and written purchase terms before payment. There is no self-service trial during the guided rollout.
Can I use delayed market data?
The software can support limit-on-open entry with a delayed reference and broker-side resting protection. A delayed feed also delays the app’s stop ratchet. Marketable-limit fallback requires fresh real-time data. Confirm your permissions and operational limitations before enabling trading.
Does past or simulated performance predict future results?
No. Demonstration values are fictional and exclude the full effect of costs and real execution. Historical results, if separately provided, would not guarantee future outcomes. The website makes no performance claim.
Do profit-protection thresholds automatically sell a winner?
No. The implemented protection model advances a floor or a trailing stop as the high-water mark rises. Reaching a protection activation threshold does not itself submit a take-profit order. A configured protective reversal or another supported exit condition initiates the exit. No selectable hard-take-profit mode is currently offered.
Are the recommended settings proven by historical returns?
No. The versioned provisional preset retains existing protection values after synthetic scenario and sensitivity evaluation. There was no historical market dataset or broker paper/live performance sample behind this selection. The evidence supports mechanics, not expected returns or an optimal setting.
Who pays for AI research?
Cloud research uses your own API credentials and is billed directly by your provider, separately from the ADT subscription. A suitable local model avoids cloud token fees and can use the keyless public-news option. Computer, broker and market-data costs may remain. Research budgets are bounded; monitoring and exits do not require model calls.
Does allowing 100 entries require ADT to trade 100 names?
No. Entry count is a maximum. Research seeks qualifying candidates and reserves inside your position and capital limits. If only 37 qualify, ADT must not manufacture the remaining 63. A candidate that becomes too expensive for even one whole share is skipped; the cap is never silently increased.
